Feb 27, 2018

When it comes to our teeth, there are unfortunately a number of ways they may become damaged. From dental decay to broken teeth, we’ve seen it all at Katy Dental Experts. Luckily we offer a variety of restorative dental treatment options for our patients who have managed to damage a tooth.

Dental Fillings

When it comes to repairing most cavities, dental fillings are the common go-to for most dentists. They can be done using a variety of materials, however composite is the most common these days. Fillings are used when the decay is minimal, and the cavity is small. Using fillings for more extensive damage can actually result in a broken tooth.

Dental Inlays

When decay or damage is a bit more extensive, however still contained within the cusp of the tooth, dental inlays are a good restorative option. Inlays can help protect from additional decay or damage while providing strength for the tooth.

Dental Onlays

If the decay or damage in your tooth has extended past the tooth cusp, a dental onlay may be required to restore your tooth. Onlays cover the entire biting surface of a tooth and go over the cusps, providing more extensive protection and strength for the affected tooth.

Dental Crowns

When teeth are severely decayed, fractured or broken a dental crown may be recommended. Unlike the other restorative options, dental crowns cover the entire tooth. These may also be done using various materials. However, tooth-colored options are the most common.
