Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Do you have a lot of toothaches and pains? Have you noticed any signs of gum inflammation or infection?  If your answers are yes to both questions, maybe you need a root canal. If you have a tooth root that is exposed, infected, or inflamed, come to us in Katy and we will assist you with your root canal treatment.

A cracked tooth caused by an injury or genetics, a deep cavity, or issues from a previous filling may necessitate a root canal. The other few signs that you may require a root canal are the following:

      • When chewing or biting, it causes severe pain.
      • Pimple in the gums that is persistent or recurring.
      • A tooth that has been chipped or cracked.
      • Sensitive teeth to hot and cold sensations
      • Gums that are swollen, tender, red, or discolored

Some patients will not show any signs or symptoms but it does not mean you need one. Katy Dental Experts encourage you to have regular oral examinations and dental cleanings so we can spot these issues and begin treatment before a tooth extraction is necessary.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment also called endodontics is a dental procedure that is used to save a tooth that has been badly decayed or infected. The term “root canal” refers to the process of cleaning the canals within a tooth’s root.

Deep decay, repeated dental procedures on a tooth, large fillings, a crack, or a chip in the tooth can cause the nerve and pulp to become irritated, inflamed, and infected. It can also occur as a result of facial trauma.

The dental pulp is removed during root canal treatment, and all of the canals and pulp chambers of the tooth are filled and sealed to keep bacteria out. Root canal therapy is painless and can save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted.

Usually, one or more office visits are required for root canal therapy. Just send us a message if you need to schedule an appointment and Katy Dental Experts will assist you throughout the process.
