Tooth Extraction

Tooth Extraction

At Katy Dental Experts, we are dedicated to helping our patients achieve and maintain a healthy smile; however, unfortunately, on certain occasions, the dental extraction of a tooth may be necessary. When other treatment options have failed, or your condition is severe enough, it can actually impact your teeth’s health and even your gums; therefore, a tooth extraction may be required for the good of your overall oral health. These situations in which a tooth extraction procedure may be necessary include:

      • Impacted Teeth
      • Overcrowded Teeth
      • Partially Dislodged Teeth
      • Dental Injuries
      • Tooth Decay
      • Tooth Infections
      • Gum Disease

Simple Tooth Extractions

In situations where a patient has a tooth which is visible and has erupted properly, a simple dental extraction can be performed. Using a special dental tool known as an elevator, your tooth extraction dentist will loosen the affected tooth. After the affected tooth has been loosened, a set of forceps will then be used to remove the tooth.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are another common reason our patients require teeth extractions. More often than not, wisdom teeth do not come in properly, often becoming impacted or affecting surrounding teeth. In these situations, wisdom teeth removal is highly recommended. Wondering if your wisdom teeth may be problematic? Contact our Katy dental practice to schedule an evaluation appointment with our tooth extraction dentist.

After the dental extraction of your tooth (or teeth), we will discuss post-extraction care. It is important not to disrupt the healing process or increase bleeding. A missing tooth can have an impact on not only the appearance of your smile but also the functionality; we will also discuss treatment options available to restore the missing tooth.
